The Team

Delaney Della Fortuna

Veterinarian/Owner Dr. Delaney has been a Veterinarian with Binbrook Animal Hospital almost since the beginning and took over the practice summer 2016. Her future of becoming a veterinarian was pretty obvious at a young age when she would rather train the families foster Seeing Eye and Hearing Ear dogs than play with her friends. Adopting a love for horses along the way didn’t hurt either to inspire her to become an animal doctor.

Graduating from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2008, Dr. Delaney spent the fist couple years in large animal practice before moving to small animals exclusively. This has been one the best decisions of her life. She has a special interest in surgery and dental care, however, this changes all the time since there are so many aspects of Veterinary Medicine that deserve attention.

Residing in Binbrook, as her ancestors did as part of the farming community in the 1800′s Dr. Delaney lives with her husband John, 3 crazy kids Lincoln, Harlyn and Boston, and dog Honeoye, and their disabled rescue cat, Miss Meowy Pants. Then there’s the horses. Sadie the mule who will live forever and Ruby the pony cross who keeps the kids on their toes.

Dr. Delaney is a member of the Binbrook Agricultural Society, Hamilton Academy of Veterinary Medicine and Ontario Veterinary Medical Assocaition. In her spare time she enjoys playing with every member of her family, baking and horse back riding.

Krissy Swallow

R.V.T.

In the fall of 2014 Krissy started a year maternity leave, however, she has decided to stay and we are thrilled. She worked very hard to learn the Binbrook Animal Hospital routine and has been teaching us a lot about pain care in our patients which she has a keen interest in.

Krissy was born in Timmins, Ontario and was then raised in Orillia until she was 7. Before calling Hamilton home, Burlington was a nice place to spend her teenage and early adult years.

After graduating from Northern Colleges Veterinary Technician program in 2008 she worked at a wide variety of veterinary hospitals throughout the Hamilton area. She has a special interest in pain management, lost/stolen pets and would love to give every stray cat a home if she could.

When she is not busy taking care of your pets here in hospital she goes home to her lovely children Savannah, Kayla, and Lucas and hubby Brett. She also calls a little kitty Patches part of the family which she has taken in and shares care of her dog Hope with her Mom and Dad. Not that anyone really has time for much with work and a busy family life but Krissy gets out there on weekends to help find lost pets, hike, roller blade, or sometimes work away at a cross stitch pattern or scrap book.

Meghan Brydges

R.V.T.

Meghan is one of our Registered Veterinary Technicians at Binbrook Animal Hospital. She started her career in the veterinary world as a co-op student where she learned the basics of dealing with pets and people, and has been with the Binbrook Animal Hospital team since March 2010. She graduated from Thompson Rivers University Animal Health Technology Distance Education Program in 2016.

Meghan was born on a farm in Mount Hope where she had a slight obsession with the barn kittens. She currently lives in Caledonia with her husband Chad and children, as well as her fur babies Kane and Tazer, both German Short Haired Pointers. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, working out and running the dogs. Meghan is also currently working to achieve her certificiate in Veterinary Practice Management, as she loves the details of how the clinic runs.

Meghan feels it’s important to be approachable and knowledgeable in this profession and she works hard to learn more and more everyday.

Mikala Vyn

R.V.T. Mikala started off at a small animal clinic in Cayuga as a high school co-op student in February 2011. She had known for years that she wanted to be a vet tech, but her co-op placement confirmed that for her. Mikala graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at Seneca College in April 2013 and returned to the same Cayuga clinic to work as an RVT for another 5 years. She believes that you should never stop learning or wanting to learn in this field and took hold of the opportunity to try something new by applying for a maternity leave position at Binbrook Animal Hospital in January 2018. She started full time in February and welcomed the opportunity to become a member of the BAH team.

Mikala enjoys all aspects of being an RVT but especially loves preforming a thorough dental prophylaxis (cleaning). Upon graduating from the Veterinary Technician program at Seneca, she was the recipient of the Marg Brown Award of Excellence, which is presented to the student who demonstrates above average competency in veterinary dentistry and enjoyment of learning.

Outside of work, Mikala raises Rouen and Call Ducks in addition to Mini Rex and Holland Lop rabbits. When she's not at the barn, she also enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with her husband Pete as well as her family, friends and fur babies. She has 2 Miniature Dachshunds called Leyna & Ava and a Domestic Shorthair that goes by Sunny, along with numerous ducks and bunnies.
